Match fixing: Pakistan fast bowler dropped from Indian movie

The recent match fixing scandal involving Pakistan cricketers has taken its toll on the accused players on and off the field. Pace bowler Mohammad Asif who was expected to star in an Indian movie has been axed from the project following allegations of him being engaged in match fixing.

Indian director, Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, a renowned lyricist and poet, no longer wishes the cricketer to be a part of his Malayalam film Mazhavillattam Vare (To the End of the Rainbow). After a series of meetings with the director’s son in London, the cricketer had agreed to play the role of a Pakistani cricketer who visits India to run a coaching school.
"Asif agreed to take the role in my film, but then there was this scandal in London, so it was very difficult to have him at all in the film," Mr Namboothiri said. The decision was taken as the character that Asif had to pull off in the movie was one with strong moral values who carried forward the movie’s theme of forging friendship through the game of cricket.Earlier the director had approached Wasim Akram to take up the role. But Akram politely declined the offer stating health reasons.

The movie was scheduled to begin shooting in October for release early next year and Namboothiri has confirmed that he hasn’t given up on the project. Last heard, he has kept the role vacant so that a suitable cricketer from the Pakistan team can pick it up.

Hello Darling Hindi MOVIE Music Review
Hello Darling is an upcoming Hindi comedy movie directed by Manoj Tiwari. Music of the film is scored by Pritam. Lyricists of Hello Darling movie are Shabbir Ahmed, Kumaar and Ashish Pandit. Hello Darling movie is set to release on 27th August, 2010.
Hello Darling album opens with “Working Girls” song which tunes on fast-band music. The track is dedicated to the movie storyline. It is a repetitive lyric of Hello Darling Hindi music which is sung by Shweta Pandit, Priyadarshini and Ritu Pathak.
“Attrah Baras Ki” is a rocking song of Hello Darling 2010 music. The track also tunes on fast-paced band music like “Working Girls”. “Attrah Baras Ki” soundtrack is inspired by western music. There is rap music in the background.
“Dil To Saala” is next song of Hello Darling Hindi album sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. It is also an average soundtrack of Hello Darling music. The track is inspired by rap and Punjabi band music. Lyric of the song contains “Ullu Ka Pattha” phrase like “Ullu Da Patha” song of Tere Bin Laden music.
Lyric of “Band Baaja” is written very beautifully. The track is sung by Ritu Pathak, Richa Sharma and Rana Mazumder. It tunes with melodious music. It is really an appreciating soundtrack of Hello Darling music.
“Band Baaja - Remix” begins with blinking music. There is faster band music than its original music. Lyric of the song is also very faster.
“Aa Jaane Jaan Aa” song of Hello Darling music is inspired by old Bollywood lyrics. The soundtrack is sung by Antara Mitra, Javed Jaffery and Akriti Kakkar. The song also tunes with rap music.
Overall, Hello Darling is an average album like Bumm Bumm Bole music. The album has not any new and unique soundtracks for the listeners. Despite it, “Band Baaja” is really very appreciating soundtrack of Hello Darling Hindi music. .
Hello Darling Hindi MOVIE Review
Though Pritam has many chartbusters to his credit, the composer fails to create an impact with the soundtrack of 'Hello Darling'. The film's music lacks freshness and most of the songs have a 'heard before' feel.
The movie stars Javed Jaffrey, Celina Jaitley and Gul Panag, and is directed Manoj Tiwari.
The album offers five originals and one remix.
The first song is the new version of Lata Mangeshkar's classic cabaret 'Aa jaane jaan'. By adding extra beats and new lyrics, Pritam has tried to tweak the song, but the effort hasn't yielded good results.
Sung by actor Javed Jaffrey along with Akruti Kakkar and Antara Mitra, the track fails due to an overdose of electronic elements.
Then there is Richa Sharma, Ritu Pathak and Rana Mazumder singing 'Band baaja', a song with a strong Punjabi influence. The song is neither bad nor brilliant. It is engaging in the beginning, but listners are likely to lose interest as the track progresses.
Next is 'Dil toh saala', a very dry composition with Sunidhi Chauhan behind the mike. This is the title track of the film, but the song has no potential to make it big owing to its unimpressive lyrics and heard-before musical arrangements.
'Attrah baras' crooned by Suzanne D'Mello is a fast-paced dance number. This song too offers nothing great though it might find some place on DJ consoles for a few weeks.
Finally there is 'Working girls' with vocals by Shweta Pandit, Ritu Pathak and Priyadarshini. The song is average and does sound interesting in parts, but on the whole, it fails to engage the listener.
The soundtrack may not do any good for the film and none of the songs is likely to become chartbusters.
